Counseling services available in-office and over Telehealth
John C. Maxwell
That depends on the client and their particular needs. Sessions are 50 minutes and can vary between you sharing with me, me asking questions, or us having a conversation based on whatever area you are wanting to address. Some clients want a safe place to process, others want more direct guidance. I am happy to adjust to your specific needs.
No; you are paying for the same quality of services, so the rate stays the same. This allows me to continue to participate in trainings and bring on additional resources to support the quality of your care.
Absolutely! I have seen clients as little as 2 year old and well into young adulthood. I offer creative and engaging ways to help kids and teens feel safe and welcome to share about their feelings, both in-office and virtually.
Eastern Orthodox Christianity is essentially the Church established by Christ, passed down by the Apostles, and preserved by Church Tradition. We believe in the Triune God of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that salvation comes through faith in Christ and His redemptive work on the cross. Please see "About" for a few resources that explain more about the Orthodox Faith.
Most of my clients have not been Orthodox and therapy has been successful. While it's a joy to serve Christians, it's an honor to bring the love of Christ to anyone who has a heart needing peace and healing. My hope and prayer is to be this to whomever I have the opportunity to serve.
This is why the first phone call is so important: get a feel for the therapist. Research has shown that treatment modalities and therapist training are not the biggest factors in client success: it's the connection within the therapist/client relationship! Find a therapist who makes you feel safe, heard, and you leave feeling lighter and valued.
Typically I like to see my clients weekly for the first 6-8 weeks, eventually going to biweekly as they start to feel issues become more manageable. This can vary from client to client and particular needs. More intense cases involving trauma or risk factors are encouraged to be seen weekly.
Sometimes it's a natural break like a life transition, or maybe because you've found your "wings" and no longer feel you need the support. Your eventual graduating therapy is a conversation we will often have, but really you are not obligated to continue services at any time.
I define biblical counseling as non-professional lay counseling that is provided from the lens that all one needs is Scripture and prayer with a counselor for their particular ailment. The type of counseling I provide is not of this nature. I am professionally trained, licensed by the state, and of the belief that God is not limited in how He can meet us in our struggles. Feel free to ask me more under "Contact Me."
