Counseling services available in-office and over Telehealth
Most of the clients I see are dealing with a range of relational issues, anxiety, depression, or trauma recovery. In addition, I invite you to learn more about my specialties.
"Psychodrama" or "drama therapy" is the practice of psychotherapy integrated with interventions from theatre and performing arts. I am a theatre bug, and have experienced firsthand the transformative power of processing and healing through creative expression with professional guidance. It's also fun! In addition I encourage clients to use art and other creative processing interventions in sessions. I love to play and believe this can be a powerful tool for younger clients (or young at heart!).
I am passionate about codependency because these folks have the biggest hearts and are often well-intended (albeit guilt-driven) individuals trying to “love others” well, even as God has commanded. Those who struggle with it are usually oblivious to the fact that there is such a problem present, except that they feel spread beyond thin, are overwhelmed, and struggle feeling resentful for all the love and care they out-put. Untangling where our own brokenness and God’s design for compassion are separate can be a tricky process, but having a good understanding of boundaries helps make those lines clearer. Boundaries are a fundamental practice to one’s entire wellbeing: mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. God is the ultimate model of healthy boundaries in how He respects the thoughts, feelings, and choices of others, even when those choices aren’t the best for them.
Marriage is precious at all stages. For couples considering or planning on entering into this holy sacrament, having a space to mentally and emotionally prepare for this serious commitment can start them off on a stronger foundation than most. So often time, money, and energy goes into details of the one-day event (a wedding), with little to spare for the lifetime that follows! Topics that I cover with my premarital couples are role expectations, individual family systems, sex, basic communication and conflict skills, learning warning signs of when to get help, and principles to help supplement and nurture the health of your growing marriage.
No marriage begins with the anticipation that it will end. Divorce is a unique type of loss that many who experience it can relate to as a “living death.” This is a devastation that tears not only through the souls of the couple parting, but the life they had together, their families, and their children if present. With compassion and no judgment, I can help you navigate the grief with grace as you heal and move forward.
I have experience working with both males and females of all ages who are in different stages of their ADHD management. I have helped many parents navigate through the “I’m sick of calls from school” stage, to understanding their rights and resources through IEPs/504 plans, working collaboratively with the school, creating support systems at home, and considerations for psychiatric involvement (note: I am not a psychiatrist, but have worked closely with these professionals and can help you determine if this might an appropriate step for you/your child). Older teens and adults who finally learn ADHD may have been at play throughout their lives often have an “Ah-ha!” experience that is both validating and gives direction for life moving forward.
(Workshops, Webinars, Church events, Podcasts guest appearances, etc.) I am happy to discuss with you how my unique integration of theology and psychology, presented in an engaging way that is both fun and practical, can serve the needs of your audience. Contact me for more information.
I occasionally will provide a limited-time group on subjects such as grief, art therapy, psychodrama, parenting, premarital, etc. that last about 6-8 weeks and are offered for a lump sum at a discounted rate than attending weekly therapy for the same amount of time. Group sizes are kept to around 12 members. Contact me or follow me on social media to keep track of groups starting soon.
